Three
things of note here:
-
- 1. A pad-eye
through-bolted into the cabin for the Harness. This keeps me
in the cockpit. I transfer the clip to the bolt at the base of
the mast for any work on deck.
-
- 2. Inclinometer
(kinda crowded!)
-
- 3. The Santana's
centerboard is difficult (putting it mildly) to get pulled up
all the way snug. You always loose a little by trying to tie
it off before it pulls back down some (not to mention the pinched
fingers). I solved this by putting a cam cleat (through bolted)
just above the exit hole of the line. This allows temporarily
stopping at any centerboard level or pulling it up really snug
and holds it there while you tie off the end. The centerboard
is fairly light (relatively speaking) and is no problem to be
held up by the cam cleat - with the horn cleat as a backup.
-
- I also re-drilled
the hole at a bit of an angle (the same angle that the line exits),
knocking off the upper (outside) and lower (inside) edges to
reduce chafe. The cam cleat is also angled with a wedge at the
same (O.K., its close) angle as the line exits.
