The use of sandwich construction (fiberglass, foam, fiberglass) makes the Schock Sabot extremely rigid and virtually impossible to sink. Both the Naples and the US are similar except that the Sabot-US has a centerboared where-as the Naples comes with a leeboard. Both type are found mainly in Southern California.
Its self-rescuing and self-bailing characteristics make it unquestionably safe. It is perfect for the beginning sailor as well as the most competitive Sabot racing skipper, whether adult or child, and is also a great yacht tender because it is stable and easy to row or equip with a small outboard motor.
